Pivot Table Designer Tutorial

Welcome to the Pivot Table Designer Tutorial.  A Pivot Table is an interactive table that you can use to quickly summarize large amounts of data. You can rotate its rows and columns to see different summaries of the source data, filter the data by displaying different pages, or display the details for areas of interest.  Below is an example of a pivot table.

This tutorial demonstrates how to create pivot tables (cubes) using the Pivot Table Designer.  Use the topics on the left side of the page to navigate.  Many topics have a Movie Clip associated with them that allows you to see the feature in action.

File  / New

To create a new pivot table cube file, click File / New.  This invokes a wizard that steps you through creating a pivot table.

File / Edit Cube Using Wizard

To edit an existing pivot table (cube), click File / Edit Cube Using Wizard.  This invokes the same wizard as used in File / New.  However, it automatically fills in all your prior settings, allowing you to edit the attributes of an existing cube.  For example, you can change the row and column dimensions, colors, or any other previously saved settings.
