Pivot Table Designer Tutorial
Welcome to the
Pivot Table Designer Tutorial. A Pivot Table is an interactive
table that you can use to quickly summarize large amounts of data. You
can rotate its rows and columns to see different summaries of the
source data, filter the data by displaying different pages, or display
the details for areas of interest. Below is an example of a
pivot table.

This tutorial demonstrates how to create pivot tables (cubes) using the Pivot
Table Designer. Use the topics on the left side of the page to
navigate. Many topics have a Movie Clip associated with them
that allows you to see the feature in action.
File / New
To create a new pivot table cube file, click File / New. This
invokes a wizard that steps you through creating a pivot table.

File / Open Cube File
To open an existing pivot table (cube), click File / Open Cube
File. It opens the cube and displays the pivot table.

File / Edit Cube Using
Wizard
To edit an existing pivot table (cube), click File / Edit Cube
Using Wizard. This invokes the same wizard as used in
File / New. However, it automatically
fills in all your prior settings, allowing you to edit the attributes
of an existing cube. For example, you can change the row and
column dimensions, colors, or any other previously saved settings.

File / Save
To save your pivot table, click File / Save. This
simply saves the pivot table (cube) to your hard drive. If you
have never saved it before, it will prompt you for a file name. If you
have previously saved the file, it will replace it.

To save your pivot table with a different name, click File /
Save As. This prompts you for a new file name.

File / Export to Excel
To export your pivot table to Microsoft Excel, click File /
Export to Excel.

File / Print
To print the pivot table, click File / Print. It will
prompt you for your printer name and then sent the pivot table to the
chosen printer.

File / Print Preview
To preview the pivot table in the format in which it will be
printed, click File / Print Preview.

You may open multiple pivot tables at one time. You may also print
all the opened pivot tables by clicking File / Print All.

To exit the pivot table designer, click File / Exit.

Once a pivot table is created, you can upload the pivot table the
Enterprise Solution we developed for you (Web Information Center,
Defect Tracker, Software Planner, Pragmatic Office or Atrium).
Then all your users can run the pivot table as any other report.

To use the pivot table designer, you must be using a Windows
based operating system (Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP or higher).

Download the Latest Version - Initial Installation
The Pivot Table Designer is only available to Pragmatic Software's
enterprise clients. Enterprise clients can obtain the latest
version of the Pivot Table designer by contacting Pragmatic
Software.
